They say “money makes the world go ‘round”.  Yet money is the last thing most people want to talk about.  Why?

Many people struggle with their finances.  There is much fear and ignorance when it comes to financial matters.  But it doesn’t have to be that way. 

True contentment and freedom can be found by applying biblical principles to our financial lives.  It will not make you “rich” by the world’s standards but it will make you rich in spirit.

Come out on November 22 and find out what it means to live a “God-honouring lifestyle” as a faithful financial steward.

 

 

      Are you faithful or foolish?

This session explores cultural myths and biblical principles about money to help us become better financial stewards of God’s wealth.  We will see that scripture calls us to be a:

·          Diligent Earner

·          Generous Giver

·          Wise Saver

·          Cautious Debtor

·          Prudent Consumer

 

Yet our culture tells us:

·          Things bring happiness

·          Debt is expected and unavoidable

·          Your possessions define who you are

·          A little more money will solve all your problems

·          Spending is a competition – are you winning?

 

So are you a faithful or foolish financial steward?

 

 

 

 

 

Some specific topics we will cover in the session:

We are Trustees, not Owners

God owns all things.  We are trustees of our property, not owners.  This is a very different perspective from what culture tells us.

Living Generously

We should not ask “How much of my money should I give to God?” but rather “How much of God’s money do I need to live on?”

Saving

Saving is an integral part of any sound financial plan.  The Bible tells us that saving is wise, but hoarding is sinful.  How do we know the difference?

Spending

Our culture trumps it as a cure-all:  “shop ‘till you drop.”  How do we handle living in a society that readily allows us to live beyond our means?

Debt Management

Many struggle with debt and debt payments.  How are we able to avoid the pitfalls of debt by sound financial stewardship?  What can be done if debt is already out of control?

No one can serve two masters.  For you will hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other.  You cannot serve both God and Money.                                                                                               Matthew 6:24

Beware!  Don’t be greedy for what you don’t have.  Real life is not measured by how much we own.           Luke 12:15

Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.                         Luke 12:21

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.                           Phillippians 4:12

Those who love money will never have enough.                                                                                          Ecclesiastes 5:10
